It’s Our Weekend!

It’s Our Weekend!

Whether you’re a traditional or digital scrapbooker, this is one of the best weekends of the year. It’s time for inter-National Scrapbooking Day/weekend.  Many online festivities have already begun and some will stretch into the coming week.  What a great weekend for all scrapbookers across the world.

While there are no records of when exactly the first National Scrapbook Day was celebrated, it is believed to have been created in 1994 by Creative Memories. It is now celebrated every year on the first Saturday of May. Oddly enough, the history of scrapbooks goes back to the 15th century. Talk about a hobby that has “staying power”, right?!? Seems like someone would have thought to celebrate it way before 1994!

When digital scrapbooking started in the early 2000s, scrappers realized digital scrapbooking was a global community and the “i” for “international” was added to include all scrappers around the world.

So grab your scissors and glue or computers and spend the day doing what we love. Let’s all celebrate together. Be it online or offline, gather your friends and family for a session of scrapbooking. Not only will the activity be more fun when you are doing it with others, but it will also be a great time for you all to reminisce and talk about your hopes for the present and the future.

Since I don’t sell product and have no special deals to hand out, I just wanted to wish you a fabulous {inter}National Scrapbooking day/weekend. And always remember…by preserving history, not just ours but the rest of the world’s, we are taking part in making the planet a better place for future generations. Future generations can learn from our perseverance (and mistakes) to make a better life for themselves.

And don’t forget, the other best scrapbooking day (Digital Scrapbooking Day) is just around the corner…
